Frequently Asked Questions

What is BioThane?

BioThane was created in America in the 1970's by a family who supplied leather bridal equipment to the equestrian sector. Customers asked the family to create a waterproof, strong and durable alternative to Leather - BioThane was then created.

BioThane is a specialised polyester webbing that is covered with a TPU OR PVC coating that is strong, durable, and pliable. It looks and feels like leather and comes in various widths and designs with a breaking strain of over 400kg per 25mm width.

BioThane is waterproof, pliable, odour and stain resistant, hypoallergenic, strong, durable, easy to clean, antimicrobial, smooth, and lightweight.

What size collar do I order for my pet?

Depending on differing breeds and their fur, not all collars will sit or fit the same as your previous collar and so it is therefore important to ensure when ordering custom made collars that you correctly size your furry friends neck size.

Measure your dogs neck at the thickest part using a soft tape measure, wrap it snuggly around your dog's neck ensuring that you are also able to fit 2 fingers wriggle room between the collar and their neck.

Measure twice to ensure you have the correct size you require. The collar should not be too tight or too loose and therefore the measurement will not be the exact size of your furry friends neck as it requires wriggle room for comfort.

Standard Name Collars: No furry friend wants a collar that feels too tight around there neck, therefore we recommend adding an extra 1/2" for extra comfort and coat changes.

Adjustable Collars: Measurement should be the exact size of your furry friends neck, unlike standard collars. If your furry friend is at the top of the size range then we would recommend that you size up to ensure this can be adjusted for extra comfort and coat changes.

Slip Collars/Martingale Collars: When measuring for the Slip/Martingale collars ensure you measure around your furry friends neck as with a standard collar and also a second measurement from around the largest part of their head.

Available widths:

  • 9mm: (Cats and miniature breeds).
  • 16mm :(Small, Medium breeds and puppies).
  • 19mm: is a "standard" collar width (Medium and Large breeds).
  • 25mm: is a "chunkier" look collar (Large and Extra Large breeds).
  • 38mm: is a extremely "chunkier" look collar and perfect for very fluffy or large breed dogs. (Ideal for extra large breeds, or breeds that pull on collar lead walking).
  • Hound collars: are specifically custom made for sighthounds and long-necked dogs.

What are the Care and Safety instructions of my collars and leads?

Check your hardware

Enzo's Pet Emporium recommends that you check your collars and fittings regularly for signs of wear and tear.

Chicago screw/rivet hardware may become loose overtime and can easily be tightened back up using a screw driver.

Ensure your hardware is properly dried as soon as possible after cleaning or getting wet to prevent rusting.

Cleaning

Enzo's Pet Emporium recommends cleaning BioThane products with warm water and soap.

The BioThane coloured, coated hardware may fade over time so we therefore recommend avoid using harmful detergents to allow for a lasting product (check the official BioThane website for cleaning guidelines if you are unsure).

Please be aware that some insect repellents may cause staining

Warning

Enzo's Pet Emporium does not recommend attaching a lead to the collar on a dog that is prone to pulling or is very strong. This may not only result in damage to the product but could also result in injury of your furry friends neck or more.

NEVER leave your pet unattended or unsupervised wearing Enzo's Pet Emporium collars, leads or accessories as they present as a choking hazard to your furry friend and could get stuck or cause injury.

How long will my order take?

Enzo's Pet Emporium handmakes all its products, so depending on the product or products ordered will depend on the dispatch time.

Enzo's Pet Emporium aims to dispatch all orders within 1 week. However depending on the product type and custom order size, dispatch make take up to 3-6 weeks. This excludes delivery time.

If you wish to know exact timescales for products made by Enzo's Pet Emporium before ordering, please email us at enzospetemporium@outlook.com or via the contact form.
